Geomapping Generative AI is an R&D project funded by Arts Council England through a National Lottery Project fund.
I’m excited to be awarded a National Lottery Project Grant for “Geomapping Generative AI”. Thank you Arts Council England for your generous support. I’m now embarking on this year-long R&D project during which I will map the environmental and societal impacts of generative AI infrastructures. Through a creative process combining photogrammetry, drone capture, LiDAR scanning, and GIS, I will develop a 3D geomap prototype for virtual platforms and expanded screen practice.
The prototype will test new ways to represent the environmental footprint of AI infrastructures for diverse publics in inclusive ways. I look forward to my conversations with Evangelos Pournaras and Begüm Eken during this project.
This blog is an online archive of the project since its start in June 2026. It focusses on iterative process, technologies used, practice-led methodologies, and the partnerships and collaborations established throughout the project’s development.
